If you’ve read Faith Girls: Growing in Grace – New Beginnings, you might remember a moment when Emma Grace Carter feels unsure of herself.
She’s in a new place.
Everything feels different.
And suddenly, the confidence she thought she had doesn’t feel so strong anymore.
If you’ve ever felt that way too, you’re not alone.
Emma’s Moment of Doubt
In New Beginnings, Emma is facing a change she didn’t choose.
New school. New routine. New people.
She doesn’t suddenly stop being kind, thoughtful, or capable; but she does start to question herself.
She wonders:
- Will anyone like me?
- What if I don’t fit in?
- What if I’m not brave enough?
Those questions feel big. And real. And familiar.
When Confidence Feels Far Away
Emma’s story reminds us of something important:
When you are put in a new situation, feeling unsure is natural. It is not a weakness.
Confidence isn’t something Emma magically finds overnight, and neither do we. Instead, she learns (little by little) to listen for God’s voice instead of the worries in her head.
What Emma Learns (And What We Can Learn Too)
As Emma leans on her faith, and on her friends, she begins to remember what’s true.
Just like Emma, God says this about you:
You are loved
Even when you feel invisible or awkward. When you are the “new kid.”
You are made on purpose
Your personality, your kindness, your quiet strength, it all matters. God made you and He sees you.
You are chosen Even when your hands shake or your voice feels small, remember trust God’s guidance.
You are not alone
God walks with you into every new beginning.
Emma doesn’t become confident by changing who she is.
She becomes confident by remembering who she belongs to.
Confidence Isn’t Loud—It’s Faithful
One of the best lessons from Faith Girls is that confidence doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Emma isn’t the loudest girl in the room.
She doesn’t have all the answers.
But she shows courage by:
- Showing up
- Trying again
- Trusting God one step at a time
That’s real confidence.
A Prayer Like Emma’s
Dear God,
Sometimes I feel nervous and unsure, especially when things change.
Help me remember who You say I am.
Help me be brave like Emma even when I don’t feel confident yet.
Thank You for walking with me through every new beginning.
Amen.
Take This With You
If you’re in a season of change, like Emma, you don’t have to rush confidence.
God isn’t finished with your story.
He’s still writing it.
And just like Emma Grace Carter, you are:
Loved. Chosen. Growing.
